The poem I wrote "In My Life" shows my creativity as a writer. I was on a plane going to Puerto Rico looking at a map of the world, in the back of my class planner, when I came up with the idea to write this piece. I circled most of the countries that I would like to visit and then searched for rhyming countries. Once I found the countries, I wrote them down in their rhyming order. I was simply going to hand in the rhyming countries for a final, but realized it looked so dull. I went online and searched for what activities you could do in each of the countries that I found. I then paired up the activities with the countries, making sure they still rhymed. I believe this particular piece exhibits my creativity because I have never seen anyone write a poem with rhyming countries, to help get the poem to flow. This poem went through two rough drafts before its final version came out. During my rough drafts I metered down some of the lines to help make the poem sound better to the reader, and I also made sure that this poem had a fun, easy-going effect to the reader. "In My Life" is one of my favorite poems, not just by me but by anyone, and I hope the people who read it have that same feeling. Will E.
